
The “Summer in Ghana Program” was created to give University of Akron students, particularly students from the Institute for Global Business of the College of Business Administration , the opportunity to travel to, and study in Ghana during the summer. Students participating in the program are able to register for, and receive academic credit for selected University of Akron (UA) classes. Students may register for such UA classes as “International Business Practices”, "International Business Practicum", “World Civilizations – Africa ”, “Introduction for Pan-African Studies”, and “Honors Colloquium – Africa ”.
In addition to lectures and presentations by faculty of The University of Ghana, government officials, and others, the program also includes extensive tours of economic, cultural, educational, and other sites in Ghana . These tours include visits to the slave forts at Cape Coast and Elmina, the rain forest and canopy walk at Kakum, as well as the ancient kingdom of Ashanti.
Trip Cost:$3,500 - $3,700
