Applying Online for Graduation

Apply for Graduation online by logging in to My Akron (instructions) and complete the application by the deadline. Please note: When you login to My Akron to apply for graduation, it will initially note that you are not fully admitted. Once you apply for graduation and complete the process for graduation, your status will change to a full admit.

After you submit the online application, the Graduation Office will send us notification of your application. Your adviser will then review your DARS record for updates and corrections.

You are responsible for reviewing your DARS record for accuracy and should contact your adviser for necessary changes to be made or question you may have.

Graduation Ceremony

Questions about the Graduation ceremony and tickets should be directed to the Graduation Office at 330-972-8300.

Program Codes for use on the Graduation Application

To follow your progress to graduation, use the Degree Audit Reporting Systems (DARS) in My Akron. Information and tutorials on using DARS is available online through the Registrar's Office online and through My Akron. DARS provides information on courses completed, in progress, and still to be taken.

Exit Interviews

An exit interview is required for graduation from a degree-granting program (certificate students do not have to participate in an exit interview). Your graduation requirements in DARS will not be met until you have completed the following steps:

  • Make an appointment during your last semester of enrollment for an exit interview with the Interim Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Programs. The interview will take from 30-60 minutes. Business casual attire is required for the interview. Call Mrs. Sue Tully at (330) 972-8095 to schedule the appointment.
  • In preparation for the interview, submit a two to three paragraph essay in which you reflect on the impact of your graduate studies on your professional and/or personal development. The essay should include your program, concentration, graduation term, UA and non-UA email addresses. Please submit your essay via email to Mrs. Sue Tully at no later than one week prior to your scheduled interview.
On the day of the interview, you will need to complete some paperwork and surveys in the Graduate Programs office. This will help us assess our programs. Allow 15 minutes before or after your interview for this paperwork.
  • Exit Survey. This survey is not affiliated with the above Exit Interview and is through the Graduate School (not the Graduate Programs Office). Any questions regarding this survey should be directed to
