Meet Our Faculty
The CBA has 63 highly-qualified and dedicated full-time faculty members who have come to Akron from across the country and around the globe. Our faculty are known for both their teaching and their scholarship. In the classroom, they combine time-tested techniques, such as traditional lectures, seminar presentations, and case method, with innovative approaches to learning that lead students to apply new knowledge and skills in real-world settings. Close ties with industry and the business community ensure that our faculty remain current with changing practices and technologies. They also remain current through their scholarship and have published numerous research papers that enrich the various disciplines of business and are relevant to today’s business practices.
The CBA also employees highly experienced business professionals as part time faculty members.

CBA Students Meet with Warren Buffett in Omaha
Every year Warren Buffett, the second richest man in the world, invites several schools from all over the globe to visit his world headquarters for one day and learn about business, ethics, and life. The University of Akron was fortunate enough to be invited this year. In November, Dr. Todd Finkle and 27 business students traveled to Omaha.
UA Tax Team to compete at Deloitte National Tax Case Study Competition
Dr. Janet Mosebach and her team of Diane Abraham, Erica Andrews, Corey Centofanti and Brian Raber, are representing The University of Akron at the prestigious Deloitte National Tax Case Study Competition on October 16 and 17.
CBA Students and Faculty Attend Schwab Impact Conference
Responding to a special invitation from Charles Schwab, a leading provider of investment services, seven students and two faculty from the College of Business Administration attended the Charles Schwab Impact 2009 Conference in September 2009.
CBA Welcomes Visiting Fulbright Professor
The CBA is pleased to welcome Dr. Miruna Mazurencu – Marinescu a professor from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies in Romania who is visiting the U.S. on a Fulbright Scholarship. She will be spending the Fall 2009 and part of the Spring 2010 semester at UA and will be collaborating with CBA faculty in research activities. Her research interests include applied corporate finance, financial modelling and the application of statistical-econometrics models in financial management.
CBA Faculty and Students Participate in Akron Marathon
Dr. Deborah Owens, Associate Professor of Marketing, and many CBA students participated in the Akron Roadrunner Marathon on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Dr. Owens was part of the Five-Around Fifty team. The team placed 5th in the Masters Female 5-Person Relay Team. This fall the Integrated Marketing Communications class taught by Dr. Federico de Gregorio is working on a marketing campaign for the Akron Marathon in 2010.
