During the week of August 30, 2010, a delegation of top officials from Romania visited The University of Akron and met with members of Ohio’s Congressional delegation.
The delegation included Dr. Alina Mihaela Bica, Romania’s Under-Minister of Justice and Dr. Iulian Fota, Romania’s Presidential Adviser for National Security, along with Dr. Paul Negrut, President of Emanuel University of Oradea.
In Akron, they met with Congresswoman Betty Sutton, Congressman Zach Space, members of Mayor Don Plusquellic’s office and spent time with the staff of Congressman Timothy Ryan on Capitol Hill.
The visit was the latest in a ten-year long relationship between UA, the College of Business Administration, and leading educational and governmental institutions in Romania.
In 2000, CBA received a U.S. State Department Grant that supported the creation of articulation agreements; faculty and student exchanges; and, research collaboration between UA and several Romanian universities.
