CBA’s Ampaipitakwong Named Co-Player of the Week


Anthony AmpaipitakwongMarketing major, Anthony Ampaipitakwong, senior midfielder on the UA Men’s Soccer Team, has been named Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week after helping to lead the team to a pair of wins over California State University - Northridge and University of Cincinnati at the UA Tournament last weekend.

Ampaipitakwong recorded a pair of assists in a 3-0 victory against CSUN.  He netted the game-winner on a 40-yard direct free kick in a 1-0 decision against UC that claimed the tournament title for UA.

A 2010 Hermann Trophy candidate, Ampaipitakwong, was named to the UA All-Tournament Team. He is the second UA player to earn MAC Player of the Week recognition this season. Junior forward Darlington Nagbe earned the team's first distinction on Sept. 8.

Last season, Ampaipitakwong, a native of Carrollton, Texas, recorded five assists and a career-high eight goals “including four game-winners“.
