CBA Alums Mark and Beverly Belgya Establish Faculty Research Fund10/08/2010
Mark Belgya '82, '93 and Beverly Belgya '83 have established a fund to provide privately funded faculty research grant assistance to CBA faculty.
The Mark R. and Beverly E. Belgya Scholarship Fund for Faculty Research is the CBA's first-ever privately funded faculty research grant. It will allow the CBA Dean to enhance the faculty's research capacity through unrestricted research stipends.
Mark and Beverly believe strongly in the power of education and its ability to impact future generations. They recognize the important role that faculty research plays in higher education.
Faculty research creates new knowledge which enhances the business curriculum. Students also learn and develop as they work alongside faculty in their research inquiries. Faculty research also provides an avenue for partnership with area businesses, providing information which contributes to the development of industry leadership.
The CBA's ability to increase faculty research through the Belgya Endowed Scholarship Fund for Faculty Research will further enhance the college’s already outstanding national reputation.
Mark is the senior vice president and chief financial officer of The J.M. Smucker Company. He earned both a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA degree from the CBA. Beverly, a certified public accountant, also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the CBA.
The Belgyas are the parents of two children, Kristi and Karli.
