Scott Caldwell is All-America Scholar Athlete of the Year

12/19/2012

Caldwell was one of 30 candidates considered for the award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Caldwell, a midfielder, was a two-year team captain with a 3.937 cumulative GPA as an accounting major. He was named a First Team NSCAA Academic All-American in Fall 2011 and is a two-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference honoree. Caldwell scored the game-winning goal in 2010 that enabled UA to earn its first national championship in a team sport.

The native of Braintree, Mass., was also an active contributor to the community, volunteering at a number of youth soccer clinics in both the Akron area and near his hometown in Massachusetts.
