An important component of your career development and management process is conducting a self-assessment so you can identify careers that are the best fit for your interests, skills, values and personality. The University of Akron has the following resources available to assist you in this process:
Counseling Center - staff will assist you in your self-assessment process which can include completing career inventories and meeting with a career counselor.
Career Resource Library - located in the Career Center (Simmons Hall 301W), this library contains computers and reference materials that can help you learn about yourself and potential career paths.
Career Exploration - business is a very broad field and provides a wide-range of career options.
After assessing your values, skills and interests and researching career options, it is useful to gain hands-on experience to determine if your intended career really is a good fit for you. The Career Center provides cooperative education and internship opportunities through which you can gain firsthand knowledge of your future career and relevant work experience while pursuing your degree.

Resume and Cover Letter Development - Developing your resume is a critical step in your job search process. A Career Center staff member can assist you in creating a professional resume. You can also access a downloadable resume guide.
Interview Preparation - Practice interviewing with a new and exciting tool, Perfect Interview, or learn how to conduct an informational interview.
Career Fairs - Twice each year, the Career Center hosts the UA Career Fair which provides an opportunity for you to look for part-time, full-time, and co-op/internship opportunities while gaining valuable networking skills.
