The A. Frederic Banda Scholarship *This scholarship will not be available in 2014-2015* Eligible applicants will be at the sophomore, junior, or senior level, enrolled in the College of Business Administration and pursuing a degree in finance. Full Description

Briner-Catanzarite-Rakas Scholarship Professors Briner, Catanzarite and Rakas established this annual $1,200 scholarship to encourage outstanding graduates of the School of Accountancy or Department of Finance to enroll full-time in The University of Akron School of Law. This scholarship is based on merit. Selection is made by the dean of the School of Law, based on recommendations submitted by the dean of the College of Business Administration. Full Description

The Kenneth L. Calhoun Scholarship for Excellence in Finance This merit-based tuition scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman in the College of Business Administration with preference given to students who intend to major in finance. Full Description

The Edith Mae Eckler Memorial Awards Provided through the Edith Mae Eckler Trust, named in memory of the wife of the late John R. Eckler, first president of the First Central Trust Company (now known as the FirstMerit Corporation), awards are made to students majoring in finance and accounting. To apply for this scholarship, submit an undergraduate scholarship application each year to the Office of Student Financial Aid in Simmons Hall by April 1 for the following academic year. Finance Advisory Board Economic Summit Awards Program The purposes of the Finance Advisory Board Economic Summit Awards Program are to: (1) promote and encourage students who show great promise for successful finance careers in business and government, (2) support the student recruitment efforts of the Department of Finance, and (3) maintain and improve the quality and reputation of Department of Finance programs by attracting excellent students. Finance Advisory Board Scholarship Program Recipients are selected during fall semester. Selection criteria include a minimum grade point average of 3.20, declared finance major, demonstrated leadership skills, extracurricular activities and work experience. Full Description

The Thomas and Anita Gedelian Endowed Scholarship *This scholarship will not be available in 2013-2014*
Thomas and Anita Gedelian established this scholarship in 2006 to assist students pursuing degrees in accounting and finance. As alumni and benefactors of the CBA, the Gedelians are active supporters of their alma mater. Establishing a scholarship to assist students in their academic pursuits is an example of their belief in the importance of higher education. In selecting recipients, preference will be given to a junior or senior majoring in accounting or finance. Applicants must maintain a 3.4 grade point average and demonstrate employment that assists in contributing to college expenses, as well as participation in civic or community activities or organizations. The dean of the College of Business Administration will make the selection, with input from the department chairs of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy and the Department of Finance. The Louis F. and Dorothy C. Hampel Memorial Scholarship This renewable scholarship is awarded to a full-time student majoring in finance who is enrolled in the Honors College. Full Description

The Galen J. Roush Memorial Scholarship Fund This endowed fund was established in 1979 by the GAR Foundation as a lasting tribute to the late Galen J. Roush, Akron business and community leader whose organizational genius led to the founding of Roadway Express, Inc. The Roush Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to deserving undergraduate finance or accounting majors.  It is awarded to both incoming freshmen and current students.  Incoming freshmen will be selected by the CBA Scholarship Committee from the list of students who have received direct admission to the college.   To be eligible for consideration, current students must have a grade point average of at least 3.6 and meet certain course completion requirements.  Eligible students will be notified by mail. Valmark Securities, Inc. Financial Planning Scholarship Valmark Securities, Inc. created this scholarship for students majoring in Finance in the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition and fees assistance for a deserving student who has a career goal of personal financial planning and intends to qualify for the CFP® mark. Each year, one $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student chosen by Finance Department faculty and Valmark representatives. Warther Financial Group, LLC Scholarship in Finance The University of Akron Department of Finance is pleased to announce the application period for the Warther Financial Group, LLC Scholarship in Finance. One $3,000 award will be used toward tuition and fees for the Fall 2014 semester. This award is available to full-time undergraduate students attending the College of Business Administration, majoring in one of the Finance degree programs. The recipient must also intend to participate in the Warther internship program beginning Summer 2014. Full Description
