  • Over twenty years of progressive experience in career services in higher education with an emphasis in the liberal arts and sciences. Experience with undergraduates, graduate students and alumni services
  • Effective leader and creative programmer; able to create, develop, and implement programs supporting office vision and strategic plan
  • Dedicated to strategic visioning and management, collaborative partnerships and faculty engagement
  • Solid understanding of career development, student development, and organizational and leadership theories
  • Committed to professional, student-centered setting connecting employers, alumni, faculty, and staff with students
  • Experience and responsibility for daily operations and management of a comprehensive career center. Oversee services, programs, staffing, budget and relational management
  • Holds a Master’s of Science in Student Personnel Services from Miami University of Ohio and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Akron
  • Kathleen began her tenure in university career services in 1985 at Ashland College, now Ashland University. Her career services work included positions at Knox College (IL) and Marietta College (OH). Immediately prior to her appointment as director of the University of Akron Center for Career Management, Kathleen served as the director of career development at Grinnell College in Iowa
  • Kathleen has authored chapters in several different publications, served as an academic advisor and teaching faculty at Marietta College
  • Kathleen served in a variety of leadership positions and is Past-President of Midwest ACE (2000 - 2001) and Vice President-College for the National Association of Colleges and Employers (2007-09)
  • Kathleen is the recipient of the J.W. Paquette Award for Superior Leadership Award Midwest ACE. (2002) Charles Sumner Harrison Award, Marietta College, March 2007, High Five Award, Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, August 2006, Teacher Appreciation Award, Sigma Kappa, Marietta College, November 2005 and a Management Leadership Certificate for Career Services Professionals, National Association of Colleges and Employers, July 1997
