Exploring the Co-op/Intern Process Like any other decision affecting your academic career, the decision to participate in a cooperative education or internship assignment requires thorough research, preparation, and planning on the part of the student.
Before participating in the Career Advantage Network, you should be familiar with the benefits of the program, including defining your personal and professional goals and what you hope to gain from an assignment. In addition, you must prepare by meeting the academic eligibility requirements and by drafting a resume. Most importantly, however, you must plan far enough in advance to allow time to attend an orientation and meet with a staff member prior to the semester you intend to participate in an internship or co-op.
