Workforce Development and Continuing Education at The University of Akron is an Approved-for-Credit Program Provider through HRCI.
If you hold a PHR, SPHR, and GPHR certification, you must earn a minimum of 60 credit hours every three years of HR-related continuing education activities to renew your certification.
The Human Resource Certification (HRCI) is the leading independent, internationally recognized certifying body for the HR profession, and is the credentialing affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). HRCI works to define and maintain the HR body of knowledge, and offers assessments and certification of this knowledge.
Human Resource certification demonstrates mastery of the HR body of knowledge and is widely accepted as a symbol of professional achievement. HRCI certifications require professionals to demonstrate their expertise in the core principles of HR practice and the application of those principles.
HRCI administers the following certifications:
PHR- Professional in Human Resources - technical and operational aspects of HR
SPHR- Senior Professional in Human Resources -strategic HR and policy issues
GPHR- Global Professional in Human Resources - for professionals whose responsibilities include developing and implementing global HR strategies, managing operations overseas and international assignment management.
