STERILE PROCESSING/CENTRAL SERVICE TECHNOLOGY
Sterile Processing/Central Service is a field dedicated to supporting the healthcare industry with supplies and equipment. You will learn sterilization practices and procedures that will prepare you to become a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician. Topics include microbiology, infection control, decontamination, manual and mechanical cleaning, instrument inspection and assembly, methods of disinfection and sterilization, sterile storage, inventory control, material management, and distribution. Class format will include lecture, discussion, demonstration and practice. Clinical experience at sterile processing /central service departments in the Akron area will be offered. Upon completion, the student will be eligible for the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Exam (Exam Dates August 3-8). Material cost is approximately $180.

CERTIFIED DIETARY MANAGER
This course is designed for use by health care food service employees, particularly those in long-term care facilities and hospital food service operations. It is also available for food service employees in correctional facilities, public schools and other institutional settings offering patient care. The three focus areas of the program are nutrition, management, and safety/sanitation. Successful completion of this course permits you to become a member of the Dietary Managers Association (DMA) and take the DMA exam, receive the National Restaurant Association ServSafe Certification, and receive the Ohio Department of Health Food Protection Certification. Registrants must be high school graduates or equivalent. Students who successfully completed a previous course passed the Dietary Managers Credentialing Exam at a rate of 100 percent!
