Do you want to take better candid photos? If you are a high school year book advisor, a photographer for your school newspaper, a realtor, hobbyist, aspiring photojournalist, parent, or if you need good photos for publications and the web for your organization or business, this course is for you! Learn the fundamentals of photojournalistic practices - how to frame and capture the 'moment'. Includes techniques in how to approach your subject and look at it in a new way, applying the rule of thirds, ISO/ASA and pixilation, camera lenses and how/why to use them, framing inside the viewfinder, proficient use of the f-stop and shutter speed and the impact of depth of field, understanding of light, composition and emotion, and basic ethics in photojournalism. You will have some out of class assignments, and the opportunity to have your photographs critiqued. Instructions apply to both digital and SLR cameras. You must have basic working knowledge of your camera to take this course, and a flash drive to bring images to class for computer projection.
