How can we help? The Center for Collaboration and Inquiry (CCI) will work with individual instructors, departments, or larger groups of faculty to help provide the necessary resources to promote effective teaching and learning. Potential CCI roles might include:
- Conducting confidential peer reviews of an instructor's class using recognized instruments such as the Reformed Teaching Observation Protocol (RTOP).
- Mentoring of instructors (in combination with peer review) about potential teaching and/or learning strategies that would be appropriate for specific classes.
- Providing access to resources such as classroom assessment techniques or research articles to meet instructor's teaching/learning goals.
- Assisting in facilitating and planning departmental discussions or workshops designed to address teaching and learning issues.
- Matching faculty members in the College of Education with those in Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences to develop collaborative research on teaching and learning with reference to the education of pre-service and in-service teachers.
- Supporting the writing of grants to obtain external funding for the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Presenting workshops that deal with topics requested by faculty members in both he College of Education with those in Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences
- Organizing campus visits by speakers with experience in matching pedagogy and content to achieve teaching/learning objectives.
- Coordinating open lectures by UA faculty to allow others to visit classes to see the application of specific teaching methods
