The University of Akron's Confucius Institute is part of an international network, supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education, dedicated to enhancing the understanding of Chinese language and culture around the world.

The Confucius Institute promotes the expansion of Chinese language instruction through a range of educational and outreach activities for students, teachers, businesses and community members...on our campus and in our communities.

The Confucius Institute is a cooperative project of The University of Akron, the National Office of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese Ministry of Education and Henan University in Kaifeng, China.

'Chinese Corner' every Friday Fall 2013 Semester

The Confucius Institute is sponsoring a Chinese Corner on Friday afternoons from 12 - 1pm in the Student Union room 323.

• September 6, 13, 20 and 27
• October 4, 11,18, and 25
• November 1, 8 and 15

Join us from noon to 1pm to practice your Chinese language skills and deepen cross-cultural interactions on our campus.

This is the fourth year that the Confucius Institute, in collaboration with the Honors College and our partners at Henan University, has sponsored the Akron/Kaifeng Tuesday Forum Series. 

These are informal, student-to-student conversations about whatever topics the student participants agree to focus on.  We use the distance education technology in Leigh Hall 208 to create a virtual living room, where UA students sit with peers from Henan University in Kaifeng and share their ideas.  Join us!
