India Study Abroad Program

College of Business Administration is offering an incredible trip to India and England as part of the Study Abroad program. Explore and experience India and England with other students from The University of Akron. This program exposes students to the issues that affect the success of work in today’s flat world & global marketplace. India’s position as the global center for Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing services provides a source for diverse viewpoints on these issues. The diverse culture of India will provide a unique and rich learning environment. Students will interact with local students, visit several global companies and listen to global experts apart from visiting cultural & historic monuments.

This program exposes students to the issues that affect the success of work in today’s flat world & global marketplace. India’s position as the global center for IT and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services provides a source for diverse viewpoints on these issues. The diverse culture of India will provide a unique and rich learning environment.

This program is offered in cooperation with the Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) in Bangalore. Participants attend seminars by renowned speakers from Industry on such topics as:

  • Lectures from local Indian authorities
    • Indian management styles
    • Indian economic development
    • Information technology in India
    • Innovation in India
    • Managing human resources and knowledge workers in India
    • Security and technology issues
    • Indian software project management
    • Understanding cultural differences
  • Cities to be visited
    • Delhi, Agra, Bangalore, Mysore, Hassan and optionally London on the way back
  • Company visits, including
    • Timken, Biocon, Infosys, BP Solar, Accenture, Narayana Hrudayalaya (hospital)
  • Visit important cultural sites, including
    • Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Mysore Palace
    • Qutab Minar, Jama Masjid, Lalbagh
    • Belur, Halebid, Shravanabelagola
    • Other cultural places

Students will interact with local students, visit several global companies and listen to global business experts. Students will also have opportunity to do some sight-seeing in and around New Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal), Bangalore and Mysore.
