Course Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree

A. General Education Requirements - Minimum of 42 credits.

B. Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences Requirements - Minimum of 47 credits.

  1. 47 credits at 300/400 level.
  2. Demonstration of ability to use English and another language.
  3. Completion of all studies for the major with a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  4. An overall total of 128 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
C. Economics Requirements (Minimum of 32 credits)

    Requirements for the degree include the following:

Those wishing to become professional economists through graduate work in economics (MA or Ph.D.) are encouraged to take more calculus (e.g., 3450:221, 222, 223) and further mathematics (e.g., 3450:312).]

1 Students may not receive credit for 3250:244 Introduction to Economic Analysis and 3250:200,201. However, those students who have completed 3250:244 are not required to take 3250:200,201 before beginning upper division work. 3250:100 Introduction to Economics cannot be used to satisfy the requirements for a major or minor in economics.
2 Students are required to have at least a C grade in 3450:145 College Algebra.
