Kenneth J. Pakenham's general areas of interest and activity are theory and practice of teaching/learning English as a Second Language (ESL), first and second language acquisition, ESL reading, ESL textbook writing, and sociolinguistics. Current specific interests include sociolinguistic rules of speaking and intercultural miscommunication, strategies for global coherence searches in ESL reading, and computer-assisted reading practice.
