Dr. Thelin serves as the Director of Composition. His publications and presentations focus on response practices, non-formulaic pedagogy, writing centers, the politics in the field of composition studies, and assessment. He is the author of the textbook Writing Without Formulas and is the co-editor of of the essay collection, Blundering for a Change: Errors and Expectations in Critical Pedagogy. He serves as editor of Open Words: Access and English Studies and is the co-chair of the Working Class Culture and Pedagogy special interest group.
