TREC: Lake Studies

Student Paula Cooper collects sediment samples from the Portage Lakes, south of Akron, OH, for her independent research project with Dr. John Peck. She is studying the modern sediment distribution within the Portage Lakes in order to understand the patterns of sediment dispersal and accumulation within the lake. Such studies are routine at many locations when evaluating human impacts such as dredging options or shoreline development.
