BS IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS


*Completion of the University’s General Education requirements and the College’s foreign
language requirement (waived for double majors with primary major outside the
College of Arts and Sciences).

The following required courses:
3450:221, 2, 3 Analytic Geometry and Calculus I, II and III
12 credits
3450:335 Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations 3 credits
3450:312 Linear Algebra 3 credits
3450:421 Advanced Calculus I 3 credits
3450:427, 8 Applied Numerical Methods I, II 6 credits
3450:436 Mathematical Models 3 credits
3460:209 Introduction to Computer Science 3 credits
3470:461 Applied Statistics 4 credits

One of the following two courses:
3450:422 Advanced Calculus II
3 credits
3450:425 Complex Variables 3 credits

• Complete 18 credit hours of approved electives at the 300/400 level.
• At least 6 of these credits must be in an approved outside area,
such as chemistry, physics, engineering, economics, etc.
• At least 3 of these credits must be in mathematics (3450).
• All students should consult with their advisors for the selection
of appropriate electives.
