We are a diverse and vibrant community of scholars who all share an interest in the study of politics.
Our accomplished faculty help our students learn how politics really work, from the politics of small towns to relations between the U.S. and other countries. We offer courses in the Presidency, Congress, media, political parties, interest groups, American foreign policy, homeland security, police work, civil liberties, conflict management, organized crime, campaign management, and much, much more!
As a political science major, you have the choice of two baccalaureate degrees:
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
Bachelor of Science in Political Science/ Criminal Justice
We also offer several minors and certificates, which will help you personalize and specialize your degree program.
Our faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching. Many teach with real world scenarios, various modes of multimedia instruction, computer modeling, internships and other innovative exercises. The department emphasizes its practical orientation toward career planning, and professional personnel are available to provide advice and counseling.
The department also is home to the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics and the Center for Conflict Management.
