Gail Garbrandt is the Manager of Iternships at The Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at The University of Akron, and a National Campaign Trainer for Women. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at The University of Akron Main Campus, and also teaches at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.

Ms. Garbrandt was elected to the national board of the American Association of Political Consultants in January 2005. Previously she served as President of the Midwest Chapter of the American Association of Political Consultants from May 2004 to June 2006. The chapter includes Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kenntucky, and Michigan.

In December 2003, she was honored as “A WOMAN of WORTH” By the Worth Collection Limited in New York. As a result , she is featured in the March 2004 issue of Town & Country Magazine. This award was presented to her in New York City on December 6, 2003 for her commitment to Public Service and Empowering Women. Ms. Garbrandt co-chaired the National Women’s Political Caucus 16th Biennial Convention in Washington, D.C. June 11-15, 2003. She was elected Vice President-Communications for the NWPC from 2005-2007. In April 2000 she was recognized as Outstanding Part-Time Faculty at The University of Akron Wayne College. She has also been recognized by The University of Akron Ambassadors, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, The Greek Alumni Association and is the 2003 recipient of the Pioneer Award given yearly to a female faculty member in recognition of exceptional leadership, scholarship, and service in the advancement of women at The University of Akron. In April 2006 Garbrandt received the Chairs Award for Professionalism and Public Service from the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Akron. On June 1, 2007 Professor Garbrandt received the “Professional Excellence Award” from Women’s Network Inc. She is published in Who’s Who of American Women. Prior to joining the Bliss Institute –a bi-partisan teaching and research institute, she taught at Walsh University, Malone College, Mount Union College and Stark State College. Garbrandt also spent 15 years in the Oil and Gas industry in the exploration and development sector where she served as President and CEO of Citi-Energy Operations Inc. with offices in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and Dover, Ohio.

Garbrandt received her M.A. in Political Science from The University of Akron in 1995 and her B.A. in Political Science from Kent State University in 1992 where she graduated with honors. She dedicates herself to: The American Association of Political Consultants; and the Association of Canadian Studies in the United States. Garbrandt has served on the Advisory Board for Canadian Studies, and the Women’s Studies Coordinating Council at the University of Akron; she is also a member of the Advisory Board for The Center for the Advancement of Women in Public Service at Cleveland State University; The NAFTA Advisory Council at the Washington Center. She is a volunteer for Hispanic Ministries through St. Joseph’s Church in Dover, Ohio. Ms. Garbrandt also works as a consultant specializing in political business development, and she has worked extensively in political campaigns at various levels of government throughout Ohio.
