- Modeling and simulation is used by innovative companies to design new products and processes, to test designs without the building of costly prototypes, and to bring better products to market faster and more cheaply. Teachers will experience these concepts working along with high school students and university faculty.

NATURAL HISTORY AND DIVERSITY OF PLANTS AND INSECTS
- June 23 – July 26, 2008 (T/TH) 12-3:30 p.m.

- Learn more about the two most abundant groups of living things! Participants will explore how the natural history of plants and insects affects Ohio’s ecology, while developing field biology skills and will learn to make and care for plant and insect collections. ASM MATERIALS CAMP

- High School Teachers
- This one-week workshop will offer teacher participants the basics of Materials Science Technology, including metals, ceramics, polymers and composites. They will see (and hear, and feel, and smell!) how this heavily project-based course can excite students to learn science concepts by completing projects of personal worth. Teachers will learn new ways to make math and science fun, and relevant, to their students. |

- This course will help teachers focus on the Ohio Academic Content Standards of Physical Sciences, Science & Technology, and Scientific Inquiry through the use of polymers and polymer-related activities. Teachers will learn by doing the hands-on activities to assist in classroom implementation.

Teaching Key Earth Science Concepts
- July 14 – 18, 2008
- Two credit course
- Classes held at R.G Drage Career Technical Center, Massillon
- This course focuses on selected academic content standards for 10th & 11th grade earth science. Topics include: geologic time, earth’s climate system, global change and sun-earth-moon relations.
