On Friday, April 28, the College of Business Administration honored four recipients of the 2006 Dr. Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Business Alumni Award and Dr. George Prough, Emeritus Professor of Marketing, at the 2006 Presidential Sunrise Breakfast.
The 2006 Simonetti honorees are:
Mark T. Clark, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Operations, FirstEnergy Corp., who earned an MBA degree from the CBA in 1978.
David M. Grubb, Partner/Senior Executive, Accenture, who earned two degrees from the CBA - a bachelor’s degree in industrial management in 1977 and an MBA in 1979.
Beth Kartarius, Vice President and Trust Officer, First Merit Bank, NA, who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the CBA in 1984.
Louis J. LaGuardia, President and Owner, REPROS COLOR, Inc., who earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management from the CBA in 1963.
The Distinguished Business Alumni Award was established by the CBA Alumni Association in 1987 to recognize distinguished CBA Alumni in the name of Dr. Frank Simonetti ’40, a fellow alumnus, as well as a dedicated professor and administrator, and friend of the college and the University. To qualify, honorees must be living graduates of the CBA who have either achieved excellence in their professions/vocations to the extent that they have brought recognition and honor to the college and the university, or who have rendered unselfish service over a period of years to their community and/or society on the local, state or national level.
Dr. George Prough received special recognition for his scholarly achievements and his service to the CBA during his 36-year tenure with the college. He is a longtime supporter of the Sunrise Breakfast and served as master of ceremonies for many years.
The breakfast, which was held in the Student Union, was attended by over 400 CBA faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college.
