The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy College of Business Administration Student Organizations The School of Accountancy provides students with many opportunities to engage in accounting-related extracurricular activities by providing administrative support to our student organizations. Membership in these organizations provides students with an opportunity to network and socialize with peers and professionals, assume leadership roles, learn more about the profession, and further enhance their communication skills.
The School has a nationally-recognized chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, The National Accounting Fraternity. The Chapter has earned a Superior Chapter or Distinguished Chapter designation for the past fifteen years, and individual members of the chapter have won both national and regional manuscript contests awards. The chapter has also been recognized for its service activities and innovative programs.
Another organization for accounting students is the Accounting Association. Membership is open to all accounting majors. The Accounting Association sponsors field trips to local firms and athletic events between students and professionals, and invites public accounting firms and other companies to campus to talk to students about career opportunities.
The School also houses three student organizations which are affiliated with national professional organizations.
The Institute of Management Accountants provides students interested in a career in management accounting with the opportunity to learn more about this field and meet practicing professionals. The National Association of Black Accountants enables minority students to meet, interact with, and learn from successful black accountants, and through its speech contests and friendly guidance.
