David, an Ohio native, is a 1977 graduate of the University of Akron where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He began his accounting and professional services career in 1978 in Minneapolis with Arthur Andersen. David joined GBQ in 2004 and currently serves as Director of Internal Audit Services. He is a seasoned audit executive with over 25 years of accounting and audit experience.
Prior to joining GBQ, as indicated above, David spent his early years with Arthur Andersen and later five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Risk Management and Internal Audit Services (IAS) practices. Most recently, he spent three years as an Internal Audit Director for Limited Brands. David's industry experience, outside of the professional services arena, 15 years with ‘Big Box’ retail and distribution companies.
During his career David has built internal audit functions, performed internal audit department 'turnarounds,' and managed a variety of internal audit and business risk assessment reviews. He also has held controllership responsibilities. Currently, as IAS practice leader for GBQ, David is responsible for all aspects of the IAS practice. In this capacity, he specializes in providing business risk and internal control assessment reviews, business process reviews and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
David is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, serves as treasurer for the 100 Black Men of Central Ohio Chapter, and is a member of the University of Akron Advisory Board of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy.
