All students attending The University of Akron must present at least a 2.3 overall grade point average for acceptance by the CBA. In addition, students applying to the CBA should have earned a 2.0 GPA in all business and economics courses completed or accepted as transfer credit, and a 2.0 in any major courses.
The minimum number of semester credits necessary for admission into the CBA is 40 credit hours. The credits can be found on the
Pre-Business Requirements page.
For the most part, students are encouraged to complete all required
100- and 200-level General Education and
Pre-Business courses, and
200-level CBA Core courses before enrolling in 300- or 400-level CBA courses.
Students currently in attendance at The University of Akron or whose last College/University attended was The University of Akron apply for CBA admission consideration by filing an Intercollege Transfer Form with the College where the student's records are domiciled. Normally, students intending to major in business are admitted to University College during their first three or four semesters.
Students whose last College/University attended was not The University of Akron, apply for CBA admissions consideration by filing an Undergraduate Admissions Application with the University's Admissions Office (330) 972-7100.
A student is notified of admission to the CBA by mail. If accepted to the CBA, a student receives a letter of acceptance and is required to meet with an academic advisor for an orientation appointment where CBA policies, procedures, and programs are explained. This is an ideal opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the CBA or its programs.
