The goal of the board is to effect a close working relationship between business leaders and the faculty and students of the department.

Specific objectives are:
- To provide advice and counsel to the Department on educational programs so that these programs are responsive to the changing educational needs of the business community.
- To promote and enhance the image and stature of The University of Akron’s College of Business Administration in the business community, both regionally and nationally.
- To expand opportunities for students to find employment with firms of Management Advisory Board members and other employers.
- To develop greater involvement of faculty with Board members and the business community.
- To assist in the recruitment of students to the Department.
- To assist the Department in raising funds for the financial support of specific programs and activities.
- To function as an advocacy group for the University, College and Department.
