The Akron Tax Club Scholarship
The Akron Tax Club created The Akron Tax Club Scholarship to benefit students enrolled in the Master of Taxation program at The University of Akron. The aim of the organization is to assist students pursuing an advanced degree in taxation and to expose students to the professional tax community in Akron. The scholarship is awarded annually to a full or part-time student in the Master of Tax program who is not eligible for tuition reimbursement from their employer. Faculty of the George W. The Jeffrey R. Brashares Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was created through the generosity of Mr. Jeffrey R. Brashares, President of Rail Can, Inc. Mr. Brashares, class of 1972, has long recognized the importance of higher education. This scholarship represents his commitment to the success of students at The University of Akron and is to be awarded with preference given to a student who is pursuing either a major, minor or graduate concentration in supply chain management in the College of Business Administration. If no applicants meet these requirements, preference may be deferred to general management majors with cumulative grade point averages of at least 3.25. The selection of the recipient will be determined by the College of Business Administration Scholarship Committee and Mr. Brashares. Center for Information Technology and E-Business (CITE) Scholarship
The CITE Scholarship was established to recruit outstanding students to the college’s information systems and e-business programs and to recognize current information systems and e-business majors who demonstrate academic excellence. It is awarded to students at any level (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate) and is renewable. To be eligible for the scholarship, an incoming freshman must have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of at least 21 or SAT score of at least 880, and be an information systems or e-business major. A current undergraduate or graduate student must be enrolled on a full-time basis, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and be an information systems or e-business major. To remain eligible for this scholarship, the recipient must continue to major in information systems or e-business in the CBA, maintain a grade point average of at least 3.2, and remain a full-time student. Recipients of the scholarship will be selected by the CBA Scholarship Committee, in consultation with the CITE Advisory Board, on the basis of academic merit. Current students should submit a letter of application to the CBA Scholarship Committee, c/o Mrs. Andrienne Calderon, College of Business Administration, The University of Akron, Akron, OH 44325-4805 by April 30. The letter should explain the student’s circumstances of financial need, provide evidence of academic excellence and describe the student’s career goals in the fields of accounting information systems, management information systems, or e-business.
The Eleanor Christoff Bodurow Award
This $1,500 annual award is provided by Mrs. Eleanor C. Bodurow, a 1948 graduate of The University of Akron. The award is presented to women alumni of the College of Business Administration who are currently pursuing an MBA degree in the CBA. The Georgianna Catherine Dedrick Scholarship
This scholarship was established through an endowed fund created by a gift from Georgianna Catherine Dedrick, a 1961 graduate of The University of Akron. It provides tuition-only assistance for students in the College of Business Administration’s MBA program. Selection is made by the CBA Scholarship Committee. To apply for this scholarship, submit the CBA Scholarship Application Form to the Chair of the CBA Scholarship Committee, College of Business Administration, The University of Akron, Akron, OH 44325-4805 by April 1.
The Robert E. Donovan Scholarship
Established in memory of Robert E. Donovan by family and friends in remembrance of Mr. Donovan’s belief in the value of education, this scholarship is awarded annually to one undergraduate and one graduate student. The recipients will be deserving women pursing degrees in engineering, law, or business. The undergraduate recipient will have an overall GPA of 2.5 or better, completed at least 32 credits and demonstrated financial need. The graduate recipient will have been accepted within one of The University of Akron’s graduate programs in engineering, law, or business and will have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or better with demonstrated financial need. Selection of eligible CBA students is made by the CBA Scholarship Committee from a list provided by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
The John Wesley Doubledee Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of John Wesley Doubledee, this scholarship is awarded annually to one student who displays significant potential as a future business leader through academic success, civic involvement and community efforts. The recipient will be a deserving student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business within one of the following areas: e-business, entrepreneurship, information technologies or international business. To be considered for this scholarship, both undergraduate and graduate students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Graduate students must have been accepted into one of The University of Akron’s graduate programs in the College of Business Administration. Preference will be given to students who are Summit County residents. Awards are renewable to students maintaining a 3.0 or better GPA. The Macro-Davis Joint Degree Scholarship
The Macro-Davis Joint-Degree Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by University of Akron alumni, Judith Macro and Richmond Davis. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist deserving students who are receiving a joint degree from the College of Business Administration (CBA) and the School of Law. Candidates must be of sound character and will be required to demonstrate financial need, community involvement and servanthood. The Director of Graduate Programs in the CBA will have the first opportunity to determine the recipients, in consultation with Judith Macro and Richmond Davis. The second opportunity will be designated to the Assistant Dean of the School of Law. The selection of recipients will be handled by the CBA Graduate Programs office in the first year, then rotated to the Office of the Assistant Dean of the School of Law.
