Not everyone is looking to obtain a Masters degree. Some people may want to refresh or update their skills in a specific area. Graduate Certificates do just that. They are mini-programs that do not lead to a degree. At the same time, they are recognized by the University as a curriculum unto themselves and thus the University awards a certificate upon completion of the program. Certificate programs are a good way for a student to ‘test the waters’ of graduate school.
The application process for a certificate program is significantly different than that for a degree program. A student still has to hold a bachelors degree but does not have to take the GMAT, submit letters of reference, a statement of purpose or a resume. Students are admitted as “Special non-degree” and that permits them to enroll in the certificate program of their choice. Should the student desire to then obtain a graduate degree, then the normal application process must be completed.
Graduate Certificate programs are fixed sets of courses. There are no waivers of any courses under any circumstances. Also since these programs are not degree seeking programs of study, students enrolled in them are not eligible for financial aid and international students may not enroll in them to maintain their F-1 visa status.
At the College of Business Administration, we offer the following Graduate Certificate Programs:
Graduate Certificate in E-Business
Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management
Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management
Graduate Certificate in Management of Technology and Innovation
