Center for Career Management

CBA Internships

The Career Advantage Network (CAN) is one of the advantages students have to gain relevant work experience through various experiential learning opportunities. The program benefits students who gain firsthand knowledge of their future careers, as well as employers, who state that they are looking for students with career-related experiences in their field of study.

Students who meet specified academic requirements for internship experiences are eligible for work assignments through the Center for Career Management (CCM) www.uakron.edu/ccm. Participating students are recognized as full time students at The University of Akron when working on an approved internship field assignment and when complying with the rules and regulations of the internship program.

CBA graduate students must complete all foundation courses before participating in an internship. International students must complete one year of study before being eligible for an internship and may not hold an internship in the last
semester of enrollment. The CCM requires authorization for internships. Authorization for MBA and MSM students is evaluated by Myra Weakland, Assistant Director of Graduate Programs in Business in consultation with the Director. MSA and MTax internships are evaluated and approved by Dr. Thomas Calderon, Chair of the School of Accountancy. MBA and MSM students may use the 6700:695 Internship in Business, Credit/Noncredit course to fulfill the free elective requirement. MSA and MTax students would take the 6200:695 Internship in Accounting course in addition to their program requirements.

Visit the CCM website at: http://www.uakron.edu/ccm/students/coop/researching.php for more details on how to register for an experiential learning experience.
