Thanks to financial support from The David and Mary Corbin Foundation, the finance lab bearing the Foundation’s name became functional toward the end of the Fall Semester. The lab, the result of a student idea to permit multiple views of different information, will provide the opportunity for students to hone analytical skills through visual comparison information in varying forms.

For example, it will permit simultaneous comparative information for different securities under examination. Also, the financial statements of one company or several firms can be presented simultaneously (e.g. balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, ratios, etc.).

The work stations also have access to the internet, financial television (e.g. CNBC), and in-house data bases. Stock data will also be available on a time delay. This will allow focused viewing of pertinent data and events as the opportunities are presented. Students will be able to view, for example, Morningstar reports, stock portfolio allocations and current news on the material under review.
