Greetings Visitors

The College of Education at The University of Akron is proud of its long history of serving the community of Akron and providing leadership for community well-being through standard-setting programs that enhance teaching, learning, and human development, research and inquiry, and outreach.

In 2002, the College met the rigorous new performance requirements of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), thus extending its current accreditation to 2009. In 2004, we are celebrating 50 years of continuous accreditation!

In July 2003, The University of Akron's College of Education hosted a National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Board of Examiners (BOE) training session. The college is the only Ohio institution ever to host the national training session.

The related pages of this site will detail the conceptual framework that guides our mission, and provide evidence to support our continued accreditation.

Please contact me if we can be of assistance to you.

Patricia A. Nelson,
Dean
