Sport Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Education: Sport Studies is comprised of course work related to leadership, programming, management, marketing, psychosocial, historical, philosophical, and legal aspects of sport. The student is prepared for job opportunities in athletic administration, collegiate recreation/intramural director, sport information, aquatics director, sport marketing director, sport programming, parks and recreation, and a multitude of other available opportunities. The sport studies major also prepares students for graduate studies in sport management, sport behavior, sport science and coaching. The major consists of sport studies required courses, a sport studies concentration in sport management or coaching, and guided electives. All Sport Studies students take the Sport Studies Required Courses and then have the option of obtaining a minor in business, psychology or communication, or other relevant minors or certificates. Also for students not majoring in Sport Studies, we have minors available in athletic coaching education and sport management.
