Eight-Week Recommended Weekly Student Teaching Schedule

Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Special Education, Multiage

Week Responsibilities Evaluation
1st week
Observe the classroom. Assist teacher in instruction.
Plan subjects to teach in the future.
2nd week Responsible for one subject area. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
3rd week

Responsible for two subject areas. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
4th week

Responsible for three subject areas Midterm Evaluation
5th week

Responsible for four subject areas. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
6th week Assume all subject teaching responsibilities. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis
7th week Continue all subject teaching and responsibilities. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
8th week Return a portion of the teaching responsibilities to the classroom teacher. Continue teaching and/or observe other situations. Final Evaluation


Eleven-Week Recommended Weekly Student Teaching Schedule

Adolescent/Young Adult (AYA)

(First Five Weeks of Semester: Student Teachers Conduct Observations)

Week Responsibilities Evaluation
1st week Responsible for one to two classes. (Usually the same preparation) Plan subjects to teach in the future.
2nd week - 4th week

Add an additional class and/or preparation if student teacher demonstrates readiness. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
5th week
Add an additional class and/or preparation if student teacher demonstrates readiness Midterm Evaluation
6th week

Assume all subject teaching responsibilities. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
7th week -
10th week
Continue all subject teaching and responsibilities. Evaluate teaching on a daily basis.
11th week Return a portion of the teaching responsibilities to the classroom teacher. Continue teaching and/or observe other situations. Final Evaluation


*NOTE: It is inadvisable for an AYA student teacher to assume full responsibility for all classes during the first week.
