Newly Admitted Students Once receiving your acceptance letter to the program you should:
- Schedule an appointment with your adviser. Your acceptance letter will identify your assigned adviser. It is your responsibility to initiate the program plan session. Upon meeting with your adviser, you will develop your Program Course Distribution (PCD). This program plan will be completed and signed by you and your adviser.

If you are new to The University of Akron, please follow the instructions below:
- Obtain a UANet ID, which is your user name and password for online information at The University of Akron. You may request an ID and password by clicking here. If you prefer to register for an ID in person, the Computer Help Desk is located in the Bierce Library, room 69 (330-972-6888). Having a UAnetID enables you to have complete access to the Internet from Student Computer Labs, have complete access to the Internet from your home using a modem, send and receive electronic mail using your UAnetID as an email address, access your University of Akron student information electronically, and make changes to your University of Akron student information electronically. Once you have your UAnetID, you can view the schedule of courses offered and register electronically through ZipLine, UA's electronic portal.
- Obtain a Zip Card, your student ID. Zip Cards are processed at the Zip Card offices located on the first floor of the Student Union or in Simmons Hall. Students must be currently registered in courses at UA in order to obtain a Zip Card. Please bring your photo ID with you. Visit the Zip Card Office website for more details.
