Teaching Endorsement embedded within the Masters in Instructional Technology degree program

The Graduate K-12 Computer / Technology Endorsement (Technology Facilitation Endorsement) intended for teachers who wish to serve as a technology integration mentor / facilitator for colleagues in their schools and districts.

Below are the requirements for the Graduate K-12 Computer / Technology Endorsement (Technology Facilitation Endorsement). The endorsement is obtained through an application process to the Ohio Department of Education and upon approval will be added to your teaching license.

GRADUATE K-12 COMPUTER/TECHNOLOGY ENDORSEMENT
Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership
The University of Akron

This endorsement is only available to individuals who currently have or who are simultaneously getting an initial Ohio license/certificate e.g. in Early Childhood, Middle Level Science, Adolescent/Young Adult Social Studies, etc.). This endorsement can be completed with a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership (330-927-7773). Individual school districts, not the State of Ohio or the University of Akron, determine the extent to which the endorsement is applicable to their needs and requirements.

There is only one Computer Technology endorsement offered within the IT Masters degree program. It is named the Technology Facilitation Endorsement - but will appear on your teaching license as "Computer Technology" because that is the only catagory ODE has in this area. This endorsement is designed to prepare teachers to be effective users of technology in teaching practice of their colleagues at building and district levels. It is not intended to develop skills in computer repair, network maintenance or computer programming languages.
