Fashion Merchandising

The School of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Akron offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Through the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program in Fashion Merchandising, three options are available to the students: the Apparel Track, the Home Furnishings Track, and the Fiber Arts Track. Each track provides comprehensive exposure to the knowledge base, theories and issues necessary for the student to enter his/her chosen career with confidence. The program emphasizes not only the practical aspects, but also the integrative role that this field of study plays in the healthy and successful lives of individuals, families and, ultimately, society as a whole. Click on the undergraduate program link on the left for more information.

The Master of Arts Degree Program, with an option in Clothing, Textiles and Interiors, offers students the opportunity to study the academic aspects of this field of study, specifically from a cultural and/or historical perspective. Students entering from another discipline are able to take bridge-up courses to not only fulfill their requirements but also to more clearly understand the knowledge base.
