Auditions for University of Akron Choral Ensembles

Auditions for University of Akron Choirs are held the first two days of the Fall and Spring semesters (Monday and Tuesday). Any student interested in auditioning must sign up for an audition time on the choral board outside office 352 in Guzzetta Hall. Sign up sheets will be posted the week before the semester starts and will remain posted until auditions are complete. Interested students may sign up at any time, but are encouraged to sign up early. Additional audition times may be available during the first two weeks of the semester. Contact Dr. Samuel Gordon for more information.

There is no required repertoire for choral auditions. Students are encouraged to bring prepared repertoire that demonstrates their vocal abilities, but a simple folk song or patriotic tune will be appropriate as well (i.e., My Country 'Tis of Thee). An accompanist will be provided. There will also be a brief sight-reading example. Auditions are friendly and informal and typically last from 3-5 minutes. Auditions serve as an opportunity to hear your voice and find out which choir will fit you the best.
