Phi Tau Chi was founded at the University of Akron in the spring semester of 2008 by Anthony Bianchi, Jason Borden, and Paul Stewart. Its purpose was to provide an organization dedicated to serving and promoting the University of Akron Choirs. During the course of the following year, the group will attain official student organization status with the University of Akron and begin the process of colonizing new chapters at other colleges and universities, thus becoming the first national honorary choral fraternity.
