After successfully completing the requirements for this program, and after being recommended by faculty of Summit College, a student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assisting Technology

What does a medical assistant do?
As a medical assistant, you will be the the physician's "right arm". Administrative Duties
- scheduling appointments and answering phones
- creating and maintaining patient medical records
- handling billing, bookkeeping, and insurance processing
- performing medical transcription
Clinical Duties:
- assisting the doctor during examinations
- performing diagnostic tests
- drawing blood samples for testing
- preparing and administering medications as directed by the physician, and following state laws for invasive procedures
