What is a peer tutor?
Peer tutors are specially trained individuals who can assist you with problem areas in a course of study. They must complete at a minimum tutor training Level 1. Through this training they gain understanding of learning styles, setting goals and communication skills.
What is a learning assistant?
Learning assistants are specially trained peer tutors who help students in the learning process. They are partnered with professors, and the two work as a team to advance students' confidence in their ability to think critically and to problem solve independently.
In order to be a learning assistant, they have to complete training levels 1-3. All levels of training are constructed to help you through your learning process.
You can find learning assistants in a number of general education courses, key foundation courses, learning communities and student success seminars.
* All peer tutors and learning assistants must have a 3.0 overall GPA and a B+ or better for each class tutored.
How can we make our service convenient for you?
In order to meet students needs on campus, we also offer tutoring in the Buckingham center and the Polsky building.
Our hours of operation are subject to change. You can check the hours in Carroll Hall 215A or call 1-330-972-6552 |
