Summit College: Programs and Centers

Besides the standard degree programs at Summit College, we offer several specialized centers to help enhance and further your career potential. To learn more, choose a center below:

Akron Area Tech Prep

The Akron Area Tech Prep Consortium was established in 1993 to initiate Tech Prep programs in high schools that provide advanced-skills education and training in technology-related careers for students which result in an associate degree and/or employment.

Center for Emergency Management and Homeland Security Policy Research

The focus is on the practice of emergency management and how it can be improved rather than on the disaster,

There is a strong policy focus so that the results of the research can be applied to improve practice and

The research agenda is set cooperatively between the directors of a state agency and the principle investigators

Center for Workforce Development and Training

Provides educational and training programs for businesses and public sector organizations.

Cisco Networking Academy

Provides hands on training to learn how to setup, maintain, and troubleshoot a Cisco network.

Crystal Room Restaurant

The Crystal Room Restaurant is located in Galluci Hall. During the academic year it is open for lunch daily and on Thursday evenings the Talk of the Town Dinner Series is presented.

Developmental Programs

DP offers basic academic skills courses and, and in conjunction with the Office of the Associate Provost for Student Academic Success, an array of academic support services.

Early College High School

Akron Early College High School is a new approach to high school. Students earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree at the same time!

Classes are taught at The University of Akron by a combination of high school teachers and college professors. The program is geared to students who have not traditionally sought higher education. AECHS is for first-generation college applicants.

Training Center for Fire & Hazardous Materials

The Training Center for Fire and Hazardous Materials brings the University, government and industry together into one comprehensive regional center to integrate educational programs, fire and hazardous materials training and other applications of fire and safety technology.

Training Center for Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice: Police Academy

The Training Center for Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice brings the University and law enforcement together into one comprehensive regional center to integrate the Police Academy, educational programs, and other applications of criminal justice technology.
