Where Learning is Doing

Early Childhood Development students gain practical experience through observation and participation in the University of Akron Center for Early Childhood and other centers in Akron and surrounding areas.

In addition, students gain valuable experience through the Capstone course, Early Childhood Practicum. This course gives students opportunity to work as early childhood professionals a minimum of 156 hours during the students' final semester. The Early Childhood practicum helps students learn how appropriate practices support young children in their development, physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
