 New Student Scholarships (2008-2009)
UA offers thousands of scholarships, and it awards more than $13 million each year in scholarship aid. With the largest endowment of any public university in northern Ohio, UA is able to give many talented students the chance to study. Awards range in size from hundreds of dollars to complete, full-ride academic scholarships.
General Scholarships range from $1,000 to $6,000 and are based on high school academic records and standardized test scores. These scholarships are awarded to new freshmen admitted by March 1 meeting the minimum criteria. They are renewable for a maximum of eight semesters. General Scholarship recipients may also receive an Honors Scholarship if admitted to the Honors College.

Renewal GPA: 3.00 - 3.25 (varies by award)

Full-time undergraduate (12 credits/semester)
National Merit Finalist: Students who are selected as National Merit Finalists will receive a minimum $6,000 General Scholarship. Finalists who apply and are admitted to the Honors College will receive an additional Honors Scholarship award from the Honors College of $3,000.
Renewal GPA:
3.25
Minimum enrollment: Full-time undergraduate (12 credits/semester)
Honors Scholarships range from $500 to full tuition, fees, room and board. Every student admitted to UA who applies for admission to the Honors College prior to the honors deadline is considered for an Honors Scholarship Award. First consideration is given to those applicants meeting the following criteria. The Honors Scholarship is in addition to other general scholarships awarded at The University of Akron.

Minimum 27 ACT / 1200 SAT (old test) or 1800 SAT (new test)

Transfer Student Scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500. Students transferring to The University of Akron with at least 24 semester hours of credit must submit a Transfer Student Undergraduate Scholarship Application no later than April 1 to be considered for scholarships for the following academic year. Transfer scholarship recipients may also receive an Honors Scholarship if admitted to the Honors College.

Additional scholarships: Some scholarships require a demonstrated history of leadership, community service or other personal factors. Students admitted by the March 1 deadline will be considered for these scholarships. Students with specific, non-academic qualifications that they would like to have considered may complete the Supplemental Information Form.
