Technical Experience Assessment (TEA) The University has approved a three-year pilot program for Summit and Wayne College known as Technical Experience Assessment (TEA). This is a 'credit for prior learning' program designed to allow students to gain college credit based on their work and/or life experience. To be eligible to apply for this credit students must first attend a Technical Experience Assessment Workshop. Students will then prepare a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge which will then be evaluated by a department faculty member.
Eligibility Requirements for the TEA program
- Majoring in a program in either Public Service Technology or Business Technology;
- Very strong writing skills
- Valuable work/life experience that can be used to demonstrate proficiency in selected course learning objectives
Programs Eligible for TEA credit - Students can earn up to 24 credit hours in their major from the courses listed below:
Department of Public Service Technology
Department of Business Technology
- Hospitality Management
- Business Management
- Office Administration
- Computer Information Systems
- Marketing & Sales
Costs associated with the TEA Program
- TEA Portfolio Preparation Workshop - $80
- Portfolio Evaluation Fee - $55 (paid for each portfolio you wish to have evaluated)
- University Admission Fee (if you are not or have never been a University student) - $30
