College Credit for Life Experience - Technical Experience Assessment(TEA) Program

Your life experience is one of the best teachers! If have work and/or life prior learning and you are considering a degree in any of the Summit College majors listed below, you may be able to translate your life experience into college credit through the Technical Experience Assessment Program (TEA).

To be eligible a student must first file an application with the TEA Coordinator. If admitted into the program, the next step is to enroll in the Technical Experience Assessment Workshop offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall. During the workshop each student will prepare a portfolio for assessment by a faculty member. The portfolio will demonstrate knowledge acquired through prior work/life experiences.

Eligibility Requirements for the TEA program where students can earn up to 24 credit hours of technical credit in their major:

  • Majoring in a program in either Public Service Technology or Business Technology;
  • Very strong writing skills
  • Valuable work/life experience that can be used to demonstrate proficiency in selected course learning objectives

Costs associated with the TEA Program:

  • TEA Portfolio Preparation Workshop - $80
  • Portfolio Evaluation Fee - $55 (paid for each portfolio you wish to have evaluated)
  • University Admission Fee (if you are not or have never been a University student) - $30
