Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program

Click here to apply for the PSEOP Program.

Are you an academic high achiever?
Would you like to cut the length and cost of your college education?

The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP) was created by the Ohio Legislature to allow high school students around the state to enroll in a college or university. Consider PSEOP as a college scholarship.

Non-Public High School Students
Once accepted, the non-public student must submit a preliminary application form (Form SF-PS-140NPP) with a copy of the college letter of acceptance to the Ohio Department of Education, Office of School Finance. Applications are processed in the order they are received, and financial support is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost of the Postsecondary Option B program is covered by a specified amount determined by the Ohio Legislature. Students will be notified within three weeks of submitting the 140NPP form if funds are available or within one week if funds are not available. Students must submit a copy of their funding approval letter from the ODE to the Office of Admissions no later than one week prior to the start of class.

Advantages for College-level Learning During High School:

  1. Strengthening the high school curriculum and raising expectations for high school students
  2. Reducing the total number of credits needed to be earned in college
  3. Potentially reducing the time required for the baccalaureate and costs to parents, students and taxpayers
  4. Enriching the undergraduate college curriculum by lessening the need to retake some introductory courses, consequently allowing earlier entry into more advanced courses, facilitation of double majors, or permitting additional electives

Students Receiving Dual High School/College Credit PSEOP Pays the Following:

  1. All instructional course fees applied to the bill at time of registration
  2. Registration fees including changes in UA course schedule if changes are due to high school schedule conflicts or initiated by a UA administrator
  3. All required books and non-consumable items. Please note: All required textbooks and non-consumable items must be returned at the end of term, i.e., textbooks, technical drawing, equipment, calculators, graphics, etc. If you wish to purchase textbooks at the semester's conclusion, you may do so.

In the Postsecondary Program, successful students demonstrate:

  • Intellectual Curiosity
  • A strong academic background
  • Good organizational skills
  • Flexibility
  • Independence
  • The ability to learn through collaboration

PSEOP Distance Learning Opportunities

For students attending many of the districts surrounding The University of Akron, an additional approach is available. Postsecondary distance learning classes allow the student to enjoy the best of what high school has to offer, while providing a virtual campus collaboration linking The University of Akron with multiple school districts. Distance learning classrooms are linked with interactive, multimedia technology and are equipped with state-of-the-art instructional equipment. Therefore, instructors teaching from these classrooms have all types of instructional media at their disposal. Instructors also have the ability to view up to three remote classrooms at a time.
