Avoiding the Freshman 15
- The average freshman college gains 15 pounds during their first year of college.
- Park farther from your classes than necessary. You need the exercise.
- When it comes to food, bigger is not better. Portions should be approximately the size of your fist.
- Stay active. Utilize the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. If you plan accordingly, you will have time to squeeze exercise into your busy schedule.
- Avoid vending machine food and all-you-can-eat buffets.

- Participate in an Intramural sport! From flag football to dodgeball, there's a sport for everyone!

Naptime isn't just for kindergarteners!
- Lack of sleep may cause you to have trouble concentrating and remembering.
- Take naps to recharge.
- Set a routine for sleep - go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.
- Stop exercising a minimum of 2 hours before bedtime. Your body needs time to relax.
- Avoid caffeinated beverages, alcohol, and nicotine before bedtime.
